Anderson Mill Limited District has many villages, each with deed restricitons in place. The Austin City Council has recently passed phase one of HOME that would change city zoning, which does not change the deed restrictions in place for Anderson Mill Limited District villages. The deed restrictions for villages within AMLD state each lot is for "a single family residence". Some of the villages do allow for duplexes on specific lots that are clearly defined within the deed restrictions for that specific village.
It isn't often that a long-standing board member leaves. This year, however, we have had two board members retire from their Place. First, in July, Director Morgan resigned from Place 3 after many years of service to Anderson Mill Limited District and prior with the municipal utility district as well. Director Kiracofe resigned from Place 1 after 25 years of combined service as a board member for Anderson Mill Limited District and prior with the municipal utility district.
Director Morgan announced his resignation from Place 3 of the board at the June 8th, 2023 regular board meeting. An agenda item was placed on the July 13th, 2023 regular board meeting for the directors to discuss and take appropriate action on the vacant Place 3 director position. After consideration of the many residents that communicated to the Directors that they were interested in filling the vacant position on the board, a motion was made to appoint Monique Watford to Place 3. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved by the board for Monique Watford to fill the Place 3 vacancy during the July 13th meeting. Please welcome Director Watford to the Anderson Mill Limited District board of directors.
Last month, at the October 12th, 2023 regular board meeting, another long standing board member, Director Kiracofe, announced his resignation from Place 1 of the board. An agenda item was placed on the November 9th regular board meeting for the directors to discuss and take appropriate action on the vacant Place 1 director position. After consideration of the many residents that communicated to the Directors that they were interested in filling a vacant position on the board, a motion was made to appoint Katherine Hogle to Place 1. The motion was seconded and unanimously approved by the board to appoint Katherine Hogle to Place 1 at the November 9th meeting. Please welcome Director Hogle as our newest member to the Anderson Mill Limited District board of directors.
More information about the board of directors, their roles, and contact information can be found on the Anderson Mill Limited District, AMLD, Director Page or by clicking the link below.
Anderson Mill Limited District was created 12/31/2008 at 12:01 AM as part of the Strategic Partnership Agreement (Tx. Local Govt. Code, Sec 43.0751) signed in 1998, and amended in 2004, between the City of Austin and the Anderson Mill Municipal Utility District. This agreement's goal was to allow for a relatively smooth transition into the inevitable annexation of Anderson Mill by the City of Austin. Copies of these documents are available on this site on the Limited District page. The Limited District was ratified and given taxing authority by an election of the voters in the District on May 9, 2009.
The District is governed by a Board of Directors who are elected by the residents and who must be residents of the District. There are 5 directors, elected to four (4) year terms. The terms are staggered with 2 or 3 positions on the Board elected every 2 years. Elections are held on the first Saturday in May every two years.
Anderson Mill is a community of approximately 11,000 residents.
