Water distribution is another thing we don’t have a clear timeline for, and we hope to have that soon. Here is the latest from City Manager Cronk’s hardworking staff on supplying water for those going without, “have been working on a large-scale water distribution strategy aimed at getting drinkable water to our community in as timely and equitable a manner as possible. To accomplish this, we have purchased a large amount of water and it is on the way. Please know, our situation is not at all unique as many other cities across the state have similar needs. This has required us to purchase water from out of state, and as such it is taking time to be delivered. I do not yet have a good estimated time of delivery as travel conditions remain challenging, but as soon as we receive it we will begin our distribution. We are working with the State and other partners to help accomplish this important goal. Additionally, as we are able to receive water from local sources, we are going to address the most vulnerable in our community.”
LOCATE YOUR WATER SHUT OFF VALVE Property owners should locate their property’s water shut off valve, often located outside. As the weather warms, frozen pipes may burst or leak, and locating and MARKING where that shut off valve is will save precious time. Please contact Austin Water or a professional plumber when needed, and work safely.
